Speaking

Your Weekend in Spanish: Speaking Practice (A2)

Speaking practice you do out loud — read the situation, take each prompt, and SAY your answer before you open the model one. Nobody's listening; that's the point of the rehearsal.

"¿Qué hiciste el fin de semana?" is the most reliable question in spoken Spanish — every Monday, every classroom, every coffee break. It's also the perfect workout for the two past tenses: preterite for what happened ("salí", "llegó", "llovió") and imperfect for the scenery ("hacía calor", "estaba viendo", "queríamos ir"). These six prompts build your Monday answer from pieces to a full story.

Say each answer out loud before opening the model one, and don't skip the last prompt: returning the question is what turns your answer into a conversation.

Make it real

The weekend story usually ends in a new plan — rehearse that next move in making plans with friends and see a whole friendship survive on Sundays in El plan que nadie canceló. For the tense choice itself, our guide to preterite vs imperfect is the reference.

Your turn — say it out loud

Say three things you did on Saturday.

Describe the weather and where you spent the afternoon.

Say what you were doing when something interrupted you.

Tell about a plan that changed, and what you did instead.

Describe the best moment of your weekend.

Now ask someone else about their weekend — both versions: did you go out, or did you rest?

¿Y tú qué hiciste el finde? ¿Saliste o descansaste?

You've rehearsed it. Now say it to a person.

Prompts build the reflex; conversation builds the speaker. Live classes with native teachers are where your answers meet real replies.
