Cheap Online Spanish Classes: 6 Options Under $100 a Month
Your budget for Spanish classes is somewhere under $100 a month, maybe well under. Search for "cheap Spanish classes online" and you get two kinds of results: $5 tutors with no context, and "affordable" programs that turn out to cost $300 once you read the plan. This guide sticks to live classes with a real teacher that can fit under $100 a month, with every price checked on the platforms' own sites on October 19, 2026.
A disclosure: Spanish Fluency Club is one of the six options, so we'll show the math for all of them and say who we're not for. If you want the full price range rather than the budget end, read how much Spanish lessons cost; if price isn't your main filter, our comparison of the best live Spanish classes online weighs seven options on fit.
What "Cheap" Should Mean
The cheapest lesson is not the cheapest way to learn. What moves your Spanish is hours of speaking, week after week, so the useful number is what a month costs at the rhythm you'll keep. A $5 lesson you take twice a month is cheap and slow; a flat plan you use four times a week can be cheaper per hour than any tutor.
So for each option below, we give the published price, what it costs at one, three and roughly seven hours a week, and the catch.
The 6 Options at a Glance
Prices checked October 19, 2026.
| Option | Format | Price | The catch |
|---|---|---|---|
| italki | 1:1 marketplace | Trial lessons from USD 5 on the first page; typically $4–20 with community tutors, per italki's pricing guide | Every extra lesson costs more |
| Preply | 1:1 marketplace | $3–$40+ per 50-min lesson, average $17 | Subscription tied to one tutor; currency shown in local money by default |
| Lingoda | Small groups (3–5), curriculum | $49.99 for 4 classes or $89.99 for 8 per 4 weeks (regular price) | Billed every 4 weeks; more classes cost more |
| BaseLang Real World Lite | 1:1 subscription | $99 a month, up to one 30-minute class a day | 30 minutes a day maximum; unused days don't carry over |
| Berlitz On Demand Plus | Self-study + unlimited group classes | $599 a year (about $50 a month) or $399 for 6 months | Live classes unlock after 20 self-study lessons; sold as a 6- or 12-month plan, labeled an introductory offer |
| Spanish Fluency Club | Group membership | $20/month, 25+ live group classes a week, 7-day free trial | Group format only; levels up to upper intermediate |
Each Option, and Its Catch
1. italki: cheap single lessons, no subscription
italki is a marketplace: each teacher sets a price, and lessons don't require a subscription. On October 19, 2026, the first page of Spanish teachers showed trial lessons from USD 5; italki's own pricing guide puts regular lessons at typically $4–20 with community tutors and $10–40 with professional teachers (community tutors offer conversation practice and, unlike professional teachers, don't have to show training as educators). Trial prices are often lower than the regular price behind them, so read the teacher's lesson list before booking.
Cheap if: you take one or two lessons a week with a budget tutor. Gets expensive: the moment you want daily practice. Our italki review runs the full math.
2. Preply: a wide price range, on a subscription
Preply's Spanish filter ran from $3 to $40+ per 50-minute lesson on October 19, 2026, and its own page put the average at $17. The cheap end exists, but the tutors Preply recommended first that day charged $20–50, so filter by price yourself. After the trial lesson you subscribe to one tutor, in cycles; how unused lessons are handled is in our Preply review.
Cheap if: you set a price filter and stick with one tutor. Watch out for: prices shown in your local currency until you switch to USD.
3. Lingoda: the cheapest structured group class
Lingoda runs 60-minute classes in groups of 3 to 5 with a set curriculum. At regular price, 4 classes are $49.99 and 8 are $89.99 per 4 weeks (the 8-class plan showed a "save 15%" price of $76.99 for new students' first month). The bigger plans get cheaper per class (32 classes are $224.99, about $7 each), but they leave the under-$100 range. Unused credits roll over while you're subscribed. More in our Lingoda review.
Cheap if: one or two structured classes a week are enough. Watch out for: billing every 4 weeks, 13 times a year.
4. BaseLang Real World Lite: a private class a day for $99
BaseLang's Lite plan is $99 a month for up to one 30-minute one-on-one class a day, and the first week costs $1 (checked October 19, 2026). That's up to about 15 hours of private classes a month, an unusually low price per hour of one-on-one. The catches: classes are 30 minutes, the daily credit doesn't accumulate if you skip a day, and the full unlimited plan is $179. Our BaseLang alternatives guide compares it with five other options.
Cheap if: you'll actually use most days. Not cheap if: you'll take two a week.
5. Berlitz On Demand Plus: unlimited groups, 6 or 12 months at a time
Berlitz USA sells On Demand Plus, a self-paced course plus unlimited pre-scheduled group conversation classes, for $399 for 6 months or $599 for a year (checked October 19, 2026); its enrollment page labels these prices an introductory offer, without saying until when. On the yearly plan that's about $50 a month. Two conditions on Berlitz's own pages: the live group sessions unlock after you complete 20 self-study lessons and activate the license, and the price is for a whole 6- or 12-month plan, not a monthly fee: the year can be paid in full or in three monthly installments, the 6-month plan only in full. The pages don't state session length or group size.
Cheap if: you like self-study and can commit to the full year. Not for: starting to speak with a teacher this week.
6. Spanish Fluency Club: flat price, as many classes as you want
Our membership is $20/month for 25+ live group classes a week with native teachers, grouped as beginner, intermediate and upper intermediate (conversation, grammar and pronunciation sessions), with a 7-day free trial. The price doesn't change with how many classes you attend, so the cost per class falls every time you show up. The club lives on Skool, where the calendar and the community are.
I’ve been a member of SFC for 3 months, and it gets better every month. In every class I learn new vocabulary, improve my speaking and listening, and always feel supported. The best part of SFC is the teachers who are all kind, energetic, and fun in every class.
— Suzanne Rutkowski, club member
It's not the right choice if you want one-on-one attention in every class, C1/C2-level work, DELE exam prep, or a textbook curriculum to follow chapter by chapter: our classes go up to upper intermediate, not beyond. For those, a tutor or Lingoda will serve you better. If what you're short of is speaking hours, start the 7-day free trial and count how many classes fit your week.
What Each One Costs at Your Rhythm
Three rhythms: about 1 hour a week, about 3 hours a week, and about an hour most days. Tutor rows are arithmetic at a round $10 an hour; the rest are published prices checked on October 19, 2026.
| Option | ~1 hour a week | ~3 hours a week | ~1 hour most days |
|---|---|---|---|
| Budget tutor at $10/hour (italki, Preply) | ~$40–45 a month | ~$120–130 a month | ~$300 a month |
| Lingoda group | $49.99 per 4 weeks (4 classes) | $144.99 per 4 weeks (16 classes) | $224.99 per 4 weeks (32 classes, the largest plan) |
| BaseLang Real World Lite | $99 a month | $99 a month | Not possible: 30 minutes a day maximum |
| Berlitz On Demand Plus (yearly) | ~$50 a month | ~$50 a month | ~$50 a month |
| Spanish Fluency Club | $20/month | $20/month | $20/month |
The pattern is the same one that runs through every price comparison: at low volume, pay per lesson; at high volume, a flat price wins. If you'll speak an hour a week, a budget tutor is fine. If you want three hours or more, a per-lesson plan leaves the under-$100 range fast, and flat-price options are the only ones that stay inside it.
The Traps That Make Cheap Classes Expensive
- Trial price ≠ regular price. italki's search page shows trial prices; the regular lessons behind them often cost more.
- Every 4 weeks ≠ monthly. Lingoda bills every 4 weeks: that's 13 charges a year, not 12.
- Per year ≠ monthly. Berlitz's "about $50 a month" is our arithmetic on a $599 yearly plan, not a monthly price.
- Caps and conditions. BaseLang Lite stops at 30 minutes a day; Berlitz's live classes start after 20 self-study lessons.
- Lost classes. Late cancellations are lost on most platforms with a cancellation window. If your week changes at short notice, budget for it.
- Automatic renewals. Nearly every trial renews into a paid plan. Set a reminder the day you sign up.
If Your Budget Is $0
Free classes with a teacher are rare, but free speaking practice isn't. Public library and Meetup groups, HelloTalk voice rooms and Spanish learning Discord servers all let you speak with other learners and native speakers at no cost; our guide to online Spanish conversation groups compares them, and how to learn Spanish for free shows how far the free route goes. The honest limit: free practice rarely comes with someone who plans the class and corrects your mistakes. A realistic budget setup is free practice most days plus one low-cost class or a flat-price plan.
The Bottom Line
Cheap online Spanish classes with a real teacher exist at every budget under $100 a month. The trick is matching the pricing model to your rhythm: a budget tutor for one lesson a week, a flat plan if you want to speak most days. Check the class length, the billing cycle and the cancellation rules before you call anything cheap.
Prices on this page were checked on each platform's own site on October 19, 2026. Marketplace rates change daily; we re-check the rest every three months.
Frequently Asked Questions
What are the cheapest online Spanish classes with a real teacher?
Per lesson, budget tutors on marketplaces: on October 19, 2026, Preply's price filter for Spanish started at $3 a lesson and italki showed trial lessons from USD 5. Per month, if you want several classes a week, flat-price plans are cheaper: Berlitz On Demand Plus is $599 a year (about $50 a month) for unlimited group classes after 20 self-study lessons, BaseLang Real World Lite is $99 a month for up to one 30-minute private class a day, and a group membership like Spanish Fluency Club has one flat monthly price for all its live classes.
Are cheap online Spanish classes any good?
They can be, if the price is low for a structural reason and not because something is missing. Group classes are cheaper because you share the teacher; flat-price plans are cheaper per class because you take more of them; marketplace tutors set their own rates, so newer and community tutors charge less. What to check before paying: who the teachers are, how much of each class you will spend speaking, the class length, and the cancellation and renewal rules.
Is there an unlimited Spanish class subscription?
Yes, several, with different catches (checked October 19, 2026). BaseLang Real World is $179 a month for unlimited one-on-one classes; its Lite plan is $99 for up to one 30-minute class a day. Berlitz On Demand Plus is $399 for 6 months or $599 for a year, with unlimited group conversation classes once you complete 20 self-study lessons. Spanish Fluency Club is a flat monthly membership with unlimited access to all its live group classes, after a free trial.
How can I learn Spanish online for free with a teacher?
Truly free classes with a teacher are rare. Free conversation practice is easy to find: public library and Meetup groups, voice rooms in exchange apps like HelloTalk, and Spanish learning Discord servers. Those give you speaking time with other learners or native speakers, but usually not a teacher who plans the class and corrects you. Free practice plus a low-cost class once or twice a week is a realistic budget setup; our guide to learning Spanish for free maps the free side.
Is a cheap tutor better than group classes?
It depends on what you're short of. A cheap tutor gives you every minute of attention, which is best for a specific weakness or goal. Group classes give you more hours of speaking for the same money, which is what most learners are actually missing. If your budget allows only one or two private lessons a month, a flat-price group plan will usually get you more speaking time. Our group vs. private comparison goes deeper.
